Jalikebba Kuyateh is a dynamic, virtuoso kora musician in the Afro Manding style, a singer, composer and music teacher from the Gambia. Under the guidance of his father, he began studying the kora, the 21-string African bridge harp, at the age of six and has been playing the instrument ever since, both as a solo musician and as a member of many African music groups, including the Sutura Band, which he founded in 1997.
Currently performing in new Leipzig ensembles, he brings the joyful as well as serious and progressive sounds of his kora to the world with a fusion of traditional and modern African music.
