David Bergmüller is one of the most exciting and multi-faceted lute players of his generation. His virtuoso performances range from historically inspired performance practice to new compositions for the lute. His discography includes recordings of various genres such as early music, contemporary music, and electronic music. He composes for his instruments, for his ensemble Sferraina, founded in 2012, and for his duo with clarinetist David Orlowsky, combining acoustic and electronic sounds. Numerous composers such as Pia Palme, Arturo Fuentes, Gilad Hochman, Manuel Durão and Franz Bauer have written works for him. With his ensemble Sferraina he was nominated for the German Record Critics' Award in the Crossover Productions category.
