The young Hungarian Tamás Pálfalvi stands out as one of the most innovative and creative trumpeters of this time. As an ECHO Rising Star 2017/2018, Tamás Pálfalvi was heard in major concert halls throughout Europe and performed the world premiere of the composition "Sentimental" for solo trumpet by Peter Eötvös, with whom he has a close collaboration, at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam. Since autumn 2019, Tamás has been teaching as the youngest professor at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. In addition, he performs with his wind ensemble In Medias Brass and has been playing the position of first trumpet with the Budapest Festival Orchestra on world tour since 2019. At Detect 2021, he will open the festival together with the junge norddeutsche philharmonie and perform Eino Tamberg's Trumpet Concerto. The work from 1977 skilfully balances percussive and rhythmic sounds with the search for lyrical beauty of sound and demands a lot from the soloist.
