With Andi Otto and his band, our Detect Classic Sessions debut became a captivating and magical premiere. Andi Otto is a composer and performer of electronic music from Hamburg who really lives his live acts. On stage he plays a unique sensor-enhanced cello bow that he developed in collaboration with STEIM in Amsterdam.
This instrumental system, which he calls Fello, allows for the gestural execution of the electronically processed sounds of the amplified cello - an additional level of musical modification that resembles the almost magical flow of playing a theremin.
